Master Wu Yusheng’s Artisan-Crafted Xishi Teapot: 24K Gold Inlay & Water-Milled Design
Crafted with classic red clay, this 200cc Xishi teapot showcases hand-painted artistry, 24K gold inlay, and traditional water-milling techniques for timeless elegance.
This Yixing purple clay teapot is named "Xi Shi", representing a classic style in traditional Chinese tea ware. Its plump, rounded form features smooth natural curves that imitate the graceful posture of ancient Chinese beauties. The short spout allows precise pouring without dripping, while the ergonomic handle comfortably conforms to finger contours.
Crafted from precious Dayi Factory red clay sourced from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, this material undergoes decades of natural weathering to achieve baby-skin texture. When fired, it develops warm reddish tones with subtle luster. The porous nature of this purple clay enhances tea aroma absorption over time, enriching brew flavors.
The base bears the seal of Wu Yusheng, a national-level craft master with four decades of zisha teapot creation experience. This Xi Shi design preserves Ming-Qing dynasty aesthetics while incorporating modern details. Every curve demonstrates meticulous hand-finishing, showcasing the artisan's mastery.
Entirely handmade through 20+ processes from clay-slab forming to final polishing, this purple clay teapot features unique 24K gold-filled lotus carvings. Artisans etch patterns on unfired clay before applying gold powder that flows along the grooves, creating striking contrast against the red surface.
The lid employs traditional water-polishing techniques. Using natural grinding stones, craftsmen perfect the contact surfaces until lid and body seal seamlessly. Even when full, the lid remains securely fixed during pouring. This process demands extreme patience, often requiring full-day work per lid.
With 200cc capacity ideal for daily use, it maintains optimal tea temperature whether serving 3-4 people or solitary enjoyment. The weighted base ensures steady pouring, while the broad belly allows full leaf expansion and narrow mouth preserves fragrance.
The interior preserves natural clay texture with irregular pores that "breathe" like skin. Long-term use enables tea essence to permeate the body, gradually developing a lustrous patina. The innovative seven-hole filter ensures smooth pouring without leaf interference, delivering clean water breaks.
Combining six-century craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, this handmade Yixing teapot offers tactile pleasure through raised carvings and visual contrast between golden decorations and matte clay. Whether for practical use or collection, it embodies Chinese artisanal heritage.
Proper care involves rinsing with water (no detergent), dedicating to specific tea types, and regular polishing with tea cloth. Well-maintained zisha teapots develop richer character over time, ultimately becoming spiritual props that carry their owner's life memories.
