Xu Liuming's Baochun Teapot Set: Masterpiece in 4th Well Di Cao Qing Clay
$385.71Handmade 50cc Zisha teapot using 4th Well Di Cao Qing clay. Designed by National Artist Xu Liuming, featuring precise craftsmanship and timeless elegance for tea enthusiasts.
The Yixing teapot is a unique representative of traditional Chinese handicrafts. Today's featured masterpiece set, named "Spring Herald Set," fully embodies the essence of Yixing teapot craftsmanship. This tea set includes a teapot and four cups, all crafted from precious No.4 Well Bottom Caoqing zisha clay, with each piece personally created by national-level craft artist Xu Liuming.
The purple clay teapot stands out for its exceptional material. The No.4 Well Bottom Caoqing is a unique zisha mineral exclusive to Huanglong Mountain mining area in Yixing. Mining of this clay ceased in 1997, making existing reserves extremely rare. The set utilizes aged clay stock naturally cured for over 30 years, developing a remarkably fine and smooth texture. When fired, this zisha clay reveals a distinctive maroon hue with dense golden speckles glittering like stars in the night sky.
National craft artist Xu Liuming dedicated immense effort to this handmade Yixing teapot. With four decades of experience, the master artisan insists on complete manual craftsmanship - from clay slab forming to spout installation, each step shaped slowly with traditional tools. He meticulously balances proportions, creating a perfect triangular structure among the 50ml body, spout, and handle for both comfortable grip and smooth pouring.
The Chinese zisha teapot's design brims with spring vitality. The plump hemispherical body resembles a budding flower, while the lid knob carves into a sprout shape. Most striking is the handle design - three straight clay strips form a branch pattern ending with hand-shaped leaves. When steaming water fills the teapot, vapor rises through leaf veins like spring buds sprouting.
The accompanying cups showcase thoughtful design. Made from identical clay but intentionally thinner than regular cups, they maintain visual harmony while highlighting the teapot's prominence. Each cup's interior bears subtle growth ring patterns that create unique light reflections with tea infusion.
Using this Yixing purple clay teapot offers special experiences. The Bottom Caoqing clay's dual-pore structure breathes naturally, retaining tea aroma over time even without leaves. The specially treated spout creates elegant arched streams with drip-free precision. The compact size perfectly suits high-aroma teas like Tieguanyin, with 50ml capacity optimizing flavor extraction.
This purple clay teapot set combines practicality with collectible value. The rare No.4 Well clay and fully manual craftsmanship ensure each piece remains unique. Master Xu's engraved signature and accompanying authentication certificate detailing production date and clay information add provenance. Whether for daily use or display, it elevates life with cultural elegance.
Maintenance requires specific care: initial warm water soaking opens clay pores naturally. Regular cleaning with soft cloth prevents residue buildup. The fine clay develops a luminous patina through use, surpassing artificial polishing in beauty.
For tea enthusiasts, this handmade Yixing zisha teapot grows like a companion. Each brewing becomes dialogue with artisan skill and natural minerals. Touching subtle handcrafted textures connects users with centuries-old craftsmanship. The "Spring Herald Set" transcends being mere teaware - it serves as cultural ambassador carrying China's millennia-old zisha wisdom.
