Masterpiece Yixing Zisha Teapot: Ancient Firing Technique & Unique Flame Traces
$300.00Artisan-crafted Yixing Zisha teapot with unique flame traces, 220cc capacity, featuring Li Wei's engravings and ancient kiln-fired texture. Collectible masterpiece.
This is a Yixing zisha teapot worthy of careful appreciation. Named "De Zhong", it was personally crafted by Jiang Yaping, a national-level senior craft artist. Having studied under renowned zisha master Gu Shaopei, Jiang spent years refining this special series. The most distinctive feature lies in its firing technique - tiger-stripe golden sand ancient fire-mark firing. To achieve desired results, Master Jiang conducted five years of repeated experiments.
The production employed traditional sealed jar firing technology. Artisans placed raw teapots in special ceramic containers for natural gas high-temperature firing. As kiln temperatures rose, flames left unique marks on the surface. These fire patterns display rainbow-like hues of red, orange, yellow, and black. Each texture forms naturally, impossible to replicate manually. With Dingshu Town's complete transition to pipeline natural gas, this ancient method has become obsolete.
Fire-mark formation involves serendipity. At 1300°C, kiln airflow carries wood ash across surfaces. When flames pass through suction holes, they create varying-depth marks on the zisha clay. Pattern positions and shapes depend on flame direction and teapot placement. Even with identical materials and kiln positions, no two fire-marked teapots will be alike. This unpredictability makes each piece unique.
The design showcases meticulous craftsmanship. The classic De Zhong shape, perfected over centuries, remains an unsurpassed masterpiece. Its cylindrical body features a slightly domed lid with double-layer edge sealing. The widened mouth accommodates whole tea leaves. The straight spout ensures drip-free pouring, while the broad ring handle provides comfortable grip.
Decoration was completed by Li Wei, Jiangsu ceramic master and professor at Wuxi Institute of Arts and Crafts. Front carvings depict Jiangnan landscapes with delicate layered perspectives. The reverse bears engraved poetry: "Gentle spring breeze guides azure clouds", blending literati charm with visual artistry. These decorations enhance both aesthetics and grip.
Functionality excels through thoughtful design. The 220cc capacity serves 2-3 people. Nine diamond-shaped filter holes efficiently strain tea without slowing flow. The spout-body ratio ensures precise pouring. Made with original tiger-stripe golden sand clay, the teapot develops natural patina over time, enriching tea flavors.
For tea enthusiasts, this purple clay teapot represents rare craftsmanship merging traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. Unique fire patterns transform each brewing session into living art appreciation. Whether for daily use or collection, it offers special experiences. As artisans say: "Great teapots tell their own stories" - every fire mark on this De Zhong narrates the wondrous encounter between flame and earth.
