Xu’s Dragon Blood Clay Teapot: 950cc Masterpiece by Yixing Artisan Wu Yawei
$900.00Handmade Dragon Blood Zisha clay teapot (950cc) by Wu Yawei, disciple of Xu Yuanming. Features Xu Nan’s artistry, rare material, and exceptional craftsmanship for tea connoisseurs.
The Yixing purple clay teapot represents traditional Chinese craftsmanship, serving not only as a tea brewing tool but also embodying profound cultural significance. This particular teapot showcases the collective effort of multiple artists and demonstrates the unique charm of zisha pottery.
Originating from the "Gu-Xu School" heritage system, this piece belongs to the lineage of master Gu Jingzhou, recognized as the pioneer of modern purple clay teapot art. Creator Wu Yawei, a National Senior Craft Artist, studied under Jiangsu Province's master Xu Yuanming for years, fully mastering traditional zisha teapot-making techniques.
Decoration work was completed by provincial master Xu Nan, featuring intricate carvings depicting China's ancient "Four Great Beauties". The minimalist line designs capture each figure's essence while balancing traditional and modern aesthetics. This handmade Yixing teapot employs rare dragon blood clay from specific Yixing mines, exhibiting golden speckles and transforming into distinctive crimson luster after high-temperature firing.
With 950ml capacity, this large functional vessel demonstrates technical mastery through its carefully calibrated spout curvature and precision-fit lid. The three-month creation process involves strict material selection (aged over six months), traditional slab-forming techniques, and precise kiln temperature control.
The Four Beauties reliefs carry symbolic meanings: Xishi represents natural beauty, Diaochan intellectual charm, Wang Zhaojun resilient grace, and Yang Guifei luxurious elegance. These tactile carvings integrate seamlessly with the teapot's form, achieving harmonious beauty.
Beyond practical use, this Chinese zisha teapot develops patina through tea infusion while its dual-porosity structure regulates temperature. Collectors value its multiple credentials - master craftsmanship, Gu School heritage, and authenticated base seals marking creator and production year.
Proper maintenance involves prompt residue removal, avoiding chemical detergents, dry storage, and dedicating specific teapots for different tea types. With careful upkeep, this spiritual prop becomes a lifelong companion, gaining luster through use.
Blending traditional skills with contemporary design, this purple clay teapot set exemplifies Chinese artisans' wisdom. From material selection to final shaping, every step concentrates craftsmen's dedication. Whether for tea enjoyment or cultural exchange, it narrates China's story through silent, enduring elegance.
