Premium Yixing Purple Clay Teapot: Dragon Motif & Collector’s Masterpiece
$857.14Artisan-crafted Yixing teapot using Huanglongshan clay, 400cc capacity, dragon-bat motifs, and auspicious carvings. Collectible masterpiece by Guo Chaogang.
The Yixing purple clay teapot represents traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Today's featured teapot "Fuyun Xinglong" was created by renowned ceramic artist Guo Chaogang, a distinguished disciple of Jiangsu Provincial Arts & Crafts Master Xu Xiutang and member of multiple ceramic art associations. With over three decades of zisha teapot creation experience, Guo's works are celebrated for their vivid forms and exquisite craftsmanship.
This 400ml handmade Yixing teapot uses precious Huanglong Mountain aged green clay from Yixing's deep mineral veins. Naturally weathered for years, this mineral-rich clay develops warm olive-green tones after firing. Teapots made from this material exhibit excellent breathability, ideal for preserving the natural aroma of pu'er and oolong teas.
The purple clay teapot features a rounded body with polished surfaces. The front displays an engraved scene of a scholar enjoying music and tea, reflecting traditional Chinese literati aesthetics. The reverse bears a carved "Qingpingyue" calligraphy piece, demonstrating the maker's cultural refinement. These decorative elements enhance both functionality and artistic value.
Notable details include the "dragon spouting water" spout resembling an ascending dragon's head, and the hollow-carved knob featuring bat and dragon motifs. In Chinese culture, dragons symbolize auspicious power while bats represent blessings (homophonic with "fu"), together embodying the "Prosperous Fortune" theme. This intricate design blends beauty with cultural significance.
Crafting this Chinese zisha teapot involves over 20 meticulous steps. Artisans hand-pound clay slabs for uniform wall thickness, carve designs on unfired clay with specialized tools, and maintain precise kiln temperatures during the 72-hour firing process. Each piece emerges as a unique artwork.
The Yixing teapot offers practical advantages: Micro-pores in the clay absorb tea aromas, developing patina over time. The snug lid maintains optimal brewing temperature. The 400ml capacity suits both personal use and small gatherings. Daily maintenance simply requires tea towel wiping without detergents.
This "Fuyun Xinglong" zisha teapot serves not just as functional ware but as a cultural ambassador. Every detail embodies auspicious symbolism and artisan wisdom. For foreign tea enthusiasts, using such teapots enhances brewing experiences while appreciating Eastern artistic charm. Whether as daily utensil or collectible, this Yixing purple clay teapot promises lasting companionship and enjoyment.
