Master Artisan Zhou Xinyuan’s Yixing Zisha Teapot: Ruyi Treasure Cauldron Guide
$771.43Zhou Xinyuan's 50CC Yixing teapot, made with vintage purple clay and master techniques, embodies heritage artistry. Limited availability. Priced at RMB 5400.
This Yixing zisha teapot is named "Ruyi Treasure Cauldron" with a capacity of 50CC, belonging to the small and exquisite type. The purple clay teapot features a rounded and full silhouette with smooth, minimalist lines, showcasing a warm natural luster on its surface. This glow isn't achieved through machine polishing but naturally develops from the aged clay material after decades of storage.
The teapot is crafted from rare century-old zini clay, a precious material preserved for over thirty years by the artisan's family. Such long-stored clay undergoes natural oxidation, becoming exceptionally fine and smooth. When used for tea brewing over time, this handmade Yixing zisha teapot develops unique jade-like patina through natural oil absorption.
Created by Zhou Xinyuan, a National Senior Craft Artist with forty years of experience in zisha teapot making, this piece reflects mastery inherited from legendary mentors Wang Xiaolong and Gao Lijun. These Jiangsu Provincial Masters of Arts and Crafts descended from Wang Yinchun, one of China's seven great zisha masters.
Employing fully handmade craftsmanship, every step from clay slab formation to shaping demonstrates human precision. The spout angle ensures smooth water flow without dripping, while the lid fits seamlessly even when inverted. Manual texturing visible inside the pot and natural clay particles preserved on the surface distinguish authentic handmade zisha teapot works.
The design embodies traditional auspicious symbolism - "Ruyi" representing wish fulfillment and "Treasure Cauldron" signifying stability. The miniature cauldron-shaped knob complements the theme while ensuring functional grip. Though compact, its balanced weight offers comfortable handling for daily tea rituals or artistic appreciation.
For tea enthusiasts, this Chinese Yixing teapot transcends utility as spiritual props. Its 50CC capacity suits solo tea sessions or brewing aromatic leaves. The aged clay enhances tea fragrance retention, eventually maintaining subtle tea aroma even without leaves. The maintenance process becomes rewarding as the surface deepens into an oily luster through use.
As a masterpiece by a renowned master, this handmade Yixing zisha teapot combines practical value with collectible worth. Zhou's works using rare vintage clays remain highly sought-after. For international friends exploring Chinese craftsmanship, this piece embodies cultural heritage - both functional vessel and artistic embodiment of tradition.
