Master Craftsmanship: Dragon-Engraved Yixing Zisha Teapot by Feng Xinghua & Carved by Chu Guofeng
$771.43Award-winning 480cc Yixing teapot using rare Yangzhi clay, handcrafted by certified masters. Double-certified collectible with museum-grade craftsmanship.
The full name of this zisha teapot is "Coiling Dragon Tripod", a collectible-grade tea set. Co-created by two national-level artisans, it comes with dual authentication certificates. Measuring approximately 15cm in height with 480ml capacity, it's ideal for group tea sessions.
Craftsman Feng Xinghua, a leading expert in Chinese arts and crafts, shaped this teapot. As the last apprentice of late master Wang Yinxian (whose works were gifted to foreign dignitaries), Feng has inherited traditional techniques through twenty years of training. Her works have won seven international craft gold medals and are collected by institutions like the Beijing Palace Museum and British Museum.
The intricate dragon patterns were carved by Chu Guofeng, an artisan renowned for three-dimensional reliefs. His hand-carved coiling dragon motif spans from lid to base, with three claw-shaped feet combining stability and aesthetics. All engravings were executed freehand without templates.
Made from rare mutton-fat jade clay from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, this material contains special quartz that develops a jade-like luster after firing. The clay undergoes five years of natural weathering and thousands of hand-poundings to remove air bubbles. Teapots using this clay better preserve tea aroma while gaining patina over time.
The 480ml capacity balances group serving with optimal brewing. Its precision-engineered spout ensures drip-free pouring, while the tightly fitted lid remains secure even when inverted. The tripod base provides stability and cleaning accessibility.
This three-month creation process involves hand-beating clay slabs, shaping with bamboo tools, and carving on semi-dried clay bodies. Final firing at 1180°C induces natural metallic crystallization in the clay.
Featuring a dual-artisan dual-certificate system, Feng's seal authenticates the form while Chu's validates carvings. Additional material certification guarantees authentic Huanglong Mountain clay. This collaborative approach preserves traditional craftsmanship while combining specialized skills.
As collectible art, it embodies Chinese cultural symbolism - the dragon motif representing prosperity and tripod design echoing ancient bronzeware. Such handmade teapots using vintage clay become increasingly rare, making this master collaboration particularly valuable. When brewing tea, it offers both sensory enjoyment and tangible connection to centuries-old craftsmanship.
