Master Xu Nan's Legendary Yixing Teapot: Ruyi Square & Crane Design in Jade Gold Clay
$1500.00Master Xu Nan's Jade Gold Clay teapot (470cc) combines ancient kiln-fired craftsmanship with a symbolic crane motif, priced at ¥10,500. Limited collectible.
This Yixing zisha teapot exemplifies the pinnacle of Chinese traditional craftsmanship. Named "Ruyi Square·Crane Illustration," it was created by Master Xu Nan, a renowned ceramic artist honored as Jiangsu Province Ceramic Art Master and Vice President of the Ceramic Committee. With over four decades dedicated to zisha art, Master Xu's teapot not only demonstrates exceptional technical mastery but also embodies profound cultural symbolism.
The vessel employs rare "Jade Gold Sand" clay, meticulously selected from ancient dragon kiln-fired "Dragon Bone Gold Sand" material - only one percent of raw ore qualifies for refinement. This unique clay develops natural golden speckles resembling twinkling stars under light after processing. The square-shaped body combines angular precision with softened edges, crowned by three-dimensional ruyi patterns symbolizing good fortune. Four sides feature hand-carved cranes in dynamic poses, capturing nature's vitality through eight distinct avian postures.
Designed with 470ml capacity, this purple clay teapot accommodates both group tea sessions and personal use. Its specially curved spout creates perfect water arcs without dripping, while the ergonomic handle ensures comfortable grip. Traditional dragon kiln wood-firing technique required three days of continuous firing, during which artisans adjusted fuel by flame color to achieve jade-like texture - a nearly lost skill preserved by few masters.
As collectible art, this handmade zisha teapot reveals characteristic shrinkage lines inside, serving as authentication marks. Through regular use, tea liquor gradually develops a lustrous patina, enhancing both appearance and flavor retention. The porous structure characteristic of Yixing clay optimizes tea aroma preservation, while the precision-fitted lid maintains ideal temperature.
Master Xu Nan, while maintaining his own legendary status, has nurtured talents like carving artist Chen Honglin. The "Ruyi Square·Crane Illustration" required 78 meticulous procedures, including two months solely for crane engraving. "Teapot-making mirrors character-building," Master Xu often says, "Every detail must satisfy one's conscience." This philosophy elevates the piece to contemporary zisha masterpiece status, blending six-century traditions with modern aesthetics - not merely a tea tool but an heirloom embodying cultural heritage.
