Masterpiece Ruyi Dezhong Teapot: Traditional Craftsmanship & Li Wei's Engraved Art
$342.86A 260cc Yixing teapot with engraved peony art, ruyi motifs, and premium red clay. Crafted by certified masters for tea connoisseurs.
This Yixing teapot, named "Ruyi Dezhong," was crafted by Jiang Yaping, a distinguished disciple of renowned zisha teapot master Gu Shaopei. Jiang Yaping, a National Senior Craft Artist of China, has long specialized in the design and creation of purple clay teapots. This piece showcases his profound traditional skills while incorporating modern aesthetic elements, exemplifying the fusion of heritage craftsmanship and innovation.
The teapot utilizes raw "Pear Skin" Dahongpao clay from original mineral sources, with a 260ml capacity. The warm-toned clay features unique granular textures resembling pear skin. Fourteen diamond-shaped water outlets inside the pot ensure smooth pouring while effectively filtering tea leaves. The porous nature of Yixing clay allows optimal tea leaf respiration, enhancing aroma concentration in brewed tea.
Based on the classic Dezhong shape, this zisha teapot exhibits refined proportions and balanced structure. The broad shoulders harmonize with the curved spout, while the bridge-shaped knob combines functionality with elegance. Ruyi patterns adorn the body, complemented by a three-dimensional auspicious cloud motif extending from the handle, infusing the piece with symbolic blessings.
Ceramic art master Li Wei, a Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Artist and professor at Wuxi Institute of Arts & Technology, executed the decorations. The front displays master Chen Peiqiu's iconic "Peony Poetry Scene" carving, depicting blooming peonies with exquisite petal details. The reverse bears the poetic inscription: "National beauty glows with morning wine, Celestial fragrance dyes evening robes," perfectly echoing the floral motif.
Every detail reflects meticulous craftsmanship. The tightly fitted lid prevents leakage, while the ergonomic handle ensures comfortable grip. The polished surface reveals the natural luster of premium clay through repeated burnishing.
As a tea-brewing tool, this handmade Yixing teapot excels. The Dahongpao clay preserves tea's authentic flavor, developing natural patina over time. Its 260ml capacity suits 3-4 drinkers, and the 14-hole design optimally brews oolong or pu'erh teas requiring full leaf expansion.
Beyond utility, this purple clay teapot represents collectible art. Jiang's craftsmanship preserves traditional charm, while Professor Li's decorations elevate artistic value. Ruyi patterns and cloud motifs convey blessings, with peony carvings symbolizing prosperity. It serves equally well as daily utensil or heirloom treasure.
For newcomers to Chinese tea culture, this Yixing zisha teapot demonstrates centuries-old craftsmanship through its dozens of creation stages - from clay selection, body shaping, to carving and firing. Users are advised to dedicate specific teapots to particular tea varieties for flavor preservation. Maintenance simply requires prompt cleaning and occasional tea broth seasoning.
The "Ruyi Dezhong" embodies Chinese traditional craftsmanship wisdom, seamlessly merging practical function with artistic beauty. Whether used for tea preparation or displayed as art, it vividly conveys the profound heritage of China's millennia-old tea culture through every curve and carving.
