Exquisite Yixing Zisha Teapot: Lotus Shape, Micro-carved Art & Premium Craftsmanship
$128.57Artisan-crafted Yixing teapot with micro-engravings, 100cc capacity, 7-hole filter, and premium purple zisha clay. Designed by certified master Sun Jianfang.
The Yixing teapot is one of the most representative traditional handicrafts in Chinese tea culture. This purple clay teapot features a classic "pear-shaped" design, with smooth rounded contours that narrow slightly at the base and gradually widen towards the top, resembling a plump pear. This form enhances visual appeal while providing ample space for tea leaves to unfurl, making it suitable for brewing various tea types.
The surface showcases delicate engravings of classic verses from "He Xinlang: Toasting at Changting Pavilion." These miniature characters flow naturally from lid to belly, each stroke precisely rendered through traditional micro-carving techniques. Artisans skillfully maneuver carving tools on damp clay bodies, balancing structural integrity with artistic calligraphy, transforming this teapot into a functional-literary hybrid.
Crafted from rare Zipaoyu zisha clay sourced from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, Jiangsu, the material develops unique granular texture through years of natural weathering. Rich in mineral content, the clay reveals varying purple hues with jade-like luster after firing. The surface texture rivals silk's smoothness, unachievable with ordinary pottery clay.
With 100-milliliter capacity ideal for group tea sessions, the compact body allows single-handed use. The precisely proportioned spout and handle ensure smooth pouring, while seven filter holes effectively block leaf particles without compromising infusion flow. This design accommodates both delicate green teas and fully expanded black teas.
Master artisan Sun Jianfang, nationally certified with over two decades of Yixing teapot-making experience, personally oversees each step from clay selection to carving. His seal engraved at the base guarantees quality. Fired at 1300°C, the zisha clay develops stable dual-porosity structure, enabling exceptional breathability that preserves tea aromas.
For optimal use, dedicate this Chinese Yixing zisha teapot to one tea variety. Over time, natural tea patina forming inside enhances water quality and enriches the surface luster. Clean only with water, avoiding detergents. Well-maintained, it becomes a heritage piece lasting decades.
This handmade Yixing purple clay teapot serves equally well as daily utensil or collectible art. The pear silhouette paired with poetic engravings embodies classical elegance, while the evolving clay texture chronicles users' tea journeys through time. Whether for personal enjoyment or as a gift, this functional artwork uniquely elevates any tea ceremony.
