Masterpiece Yixing Dragon Teapot: Aged Clay, Symbolic Carvings & Elite Craftsmanship by Guo Chaojiang
$857.14Luxury Yixing teapot with dragon-bat motifs, made from premium Huanglongshan clay by renowned artist Guo Chaojiang. Combines artistry and tradition for tea connoisseurs.
The Yixing zisha teapot is a treasure among traditional Chinese handicrafts. This teapot, named "Fortune and Prosperity," was crafted by renowned ceramic artist Guo Chaogang. As a distinguished disciple of Master Xu Xiutang, Guo holds multiple professional titles: member of the Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Art Professional Committee and the Ceramic Art Professional Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Arts and Crafts Society, solidifying his expertise in zisha art.
With a 400-milliliter capacity, this medium-sized purple clay teapot is made from precious aged green clay sourced from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, China—a premium material for crafting Yixing teapots. After prolonged natural aging and firing, the clay develops a warm matte texture with subtle granularity, ensuring excellent breathability to preserve tea’s authentic flavor.
The handmade Yixing teapot features a rounded, full-bodied silhouette reflecting traditional aesthetics. Both sides bear intricate carvings: one depicts an elder savoring tea while listening to a guqin, illustrating classical Chinese literati culture; the other displays the cipai verse title "Qing Ping Le," enriching its literary significance.
The spout adopts a "dragon spouting water" design, mimicking a dragon’s curved head with an open-mouthed tip for drip-free pouring. The ergonomic ring-shaped handle ensures comfortable grip.
Most striking is the hollow-carved knob combining bat and dragon motifs. In Chinese tradition, bats symbolize blessings, while dragons represent prosperity—together conveying auspiciousness. This openwork technique demands exceptional precision to avoid damaging the knob.
Crafting this Chinese zisha teapot involves dozens of steps: clay preparation, shaping, detailing, and high-temperature firing. Natural mineral clay ensures unique color variations post-firing.
Using a Yixing purple clay teapot enhances tea brewing—its porous structure absorbs aromas, eventually releasing subtle tea fragrance even with plain water. The 400ml capacity suits 3-4 guests, ideal for gatherings. Dedicate it to one tea type for optimal maintenance.
Care tips: Rinse promptly after use with water (no chemicals), store ventilated and shaded, and polish regularly with a tea cloth to develop a natural patina.
The "Fortune and Prosperity" teapot blends utility and collectible value. Beyond functionality, it embodies Chinese cultural artistry, with every detail reflecting craftsmanship that harmonizes practicality and symbolic meaning—a spiritual prop for tea enthusiasts seeking an elevated experience.
