Zisha teapots, crafted by master artisans, blend tradition with modern aesthetics.
$342.86Zisha teapots, as a form of traditional Chinese handicraft, embody profound cultural heritage and exquisite craftsmanship. Today, we introduce a Zisha teapot named "Flowering Wealth
This Yixing purple clay teapot is named "Blooming Prosperity," meticulously crafted by Shen Jiankang, a National Senior Craft Artist of China. As an expert in zisha teapot creation and art director of Kangqian Zisha Art Museum, Master Shen possesses over two decades of experience. Honored as "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Zisha Art Master," his works frequently appear in international exhibitions.
The design draws inspiration from ancient Chinese mirror-tile teapots. Before bronze mirrors emerged, people used water basins as mirrors. When bronze mirrors appeared during the Warring States Period, "self-reflection through mirrors" became symbolic of self-cultivation. The original mirror-tile teapot was collaboratively designed by renowned Qing Dynasty artisans Chen Hongshou and Yang Pengnian. Master Shen's creation preserves traditional elements while incorporating modern aesthetics.
With 280ml capacity suitable for 3-4 tea drinkers, the teapot's body resembles cylindrical roof tiles from ancient architecture, featuring precisely angled surfaces. The flat lid echoes ancient bronze mirrors, while the straight spout and semi-circular handle blend traditional stability with modern minimalism.
The most striking feature is the vibrant enamel painting using four precious pigments: ruby red, peacock blue, turquoise, and topaz yellow. Each color requires separate firing at precisely controlled temperatures, followed by gold outline detailing. The floral patterns alone demand four kiln firings.
Producing this zisha teapot involves over a dozen firings. Initial shaping with Yixing purple clay undergoes primary firing, followed by sequential carving, coloring, and polishing processes. The highest firing temperature reaches 1200°C, where any miscalculation could cause cracks or deformation.
The purple clay from Yixing, Jiangsu contains rich iron elements. High-temperature firing creates micro-pores that preserve tea aroma without absorbing odors. Tea brewed in this teapot remains fresh for hours even in summer.
The base bears the artist's signature and production year. The accompanying wooden case contains a collector's certificate detailing dimensions, materials, and craftsmanship, authenticated by China National Painter's Association's official seal.
Ideal for both daily use and collection, this handmade Yixing teapot recommends dedicated use for specific tea types. Clean only with water - detergents should be avoided. With prolonged use, the surface naturally develops a warm patina and deeper coloration.
For foreigners exploring Chinese tea culture, this purple clay teapot serves as an excellent introduction. Blending tradition with contemporary design, it functions as both practical teaware and fine art. The floral motif symbolizes wealth and auspiciousness, making it meaningful as a gift. Through this piece, one can vividly appreciate Chinese artisans' relentless pursuit of perfection.
