Chen Huajun's 20cc Hanwa Yixing Teapot: Cultural Revolution Clay Craftsmanship
$128.57Chen Huajun's 20cc Zisha teapot combines vintage Cultural Revolution clay with a 10-hole filtration system, crafted for precision brewing and tea flavor enhancement.
The Yixing purple clay teapot stands as a quintessential representative of Chinese traditional handicrafts. Today's featured teapot, named "Han Wa," embodies unique historical charm through its form and craftsmanship. Crafted from rare aged purple clay originating from the Cultural Revolution period, this material has undergone decades of natural aging, revealing a profound maroon hue. Running fingers across its surface reveals the characteristic granular texture of zisha clay - neither overly coarse nor unnaturally smooth.
With a compact 20cc capacity, this handmade Yixing teapot maintains perfect proportions despite its small size. The lid fits seamlessly with the mouth, preventing leaks during pouring. Its specially designed 10-hole filtration system inside the spout ensures smooth water flow while effectively filtering tea leaves, capable of handling even fine tea particles without clogging.
Inspired by Han Dynasty architectural tiles (from which it derives its name), the zisha teapot master Chen Huajun - a national-level craft artist - employs distinctive internal pushing techniques. This specialized process creates natural textures inside the vessel, enhancing tea infusion quality and improving aroma absorption. Professional seasoning gradually develops a warm luster on the surface.
When brewing tea, this Chinese Yixing zisha teapot works best with highly fermented varieties like oolong or pu'er. Its modest size requires 3-5g of leaves per use. The aged clay's excellent heat retention maintains optimal temperature for approximately 15 minutes. Initial preparation involves boiling twice to remove residual impurities.
Maintenance requires careful attention: wipe dry with soft cloth after use, avoid detergents, and store ventilated when unused. Regular tea rinsing promotes beautiful patina development. This purple clay teapot set combines daily functionality with collectible value, featuring increasingly scarce Cultural Revolution-era clay that develops metallic textures when fired.
The charm of this handmade zisha teapot lies in its evolving character - surface color transitions from maroon to deep brown over months of use, while tactile smoothness intensifies. Each tea enthusiast cultivates unique variations through interaction, embodying the captivating relationship between user and artifact central to traditional craftsmanship.
