Artisan-Crafted Yixing Zisha Teapot: Master Yang Hongwei’s Peach Blossom Design
$600.00Master-crafted 20cc Yixing teapot using aged purple clay. Designed by Yang Hongwei, featuring peach motifs and fully handmade artistry. A timeless collectible.
This purple clay teapot is named "Peach and Plum All Under Heaven," with a design full of natural charm. The body features carved peach tree branches, leaves, and fruits, each leaf bending at unique angles as if swaying in a breeze. The spout and handle mimic peach tree branches with realistic bark textures, creating tactile uneven surfaces.
Crafted from aged raw zisha clay mined from Huanglong Mountain's deep strata in Yixing, this material naturally weathered for decades. Rich in minerals, the clay develops a deep purplish-brown hue after firing. Its exceptional breathability preserves tea aroma effectively. With prolonged use, the teapot gradually develops a warm patina and deeper coloration.
Measuring 20cc capacity, this compact Yixing teapot showcases meticulous craftsmanship. The lid fits snugly without leakage, while the spout ensures smooth pouring and clean water cutoff. The ergonomic handle allows secure three-finger grip, remaining heat-resistant even with boiling water.
Created by Yang Hongwei, a national senior craft artist trained under Xu-style pottery masters, this handmade zisha teapot blends traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. As a member of China's Female Ceramic Artists Association, she spends days repeatedly adjusting shapes and hand-carving every decorative groove without mold marks.
Firing requires precise temperature control: initial low-temperature bisque firing at 800°C stabilizes the form, followed by 1180°C high-firing where iron elements react to create distinctive purple luster. Minor kiln temperature fluctuations could compromise color consistency or structural integrity.
Using this Chinese zisha teapot enhances tea brewing through its dual-porosity structure that isolates odors while allowing tea leaves to expand fully. Seasoning the pot with single tea varieties gradually accumulates fragrance within the clay. New teapots require 24-hour warm water soaking to remove residual dust.
Proper maintenance involves immediate residue removal with water (no detergents), air-drying upside down to prevent moisture, and storage in ventilated wooden stands. For prolonged disuse, store in odorless tea caddies.
The "Peach and Plum" motif symbolizes educational virtues in Chinese culture, with lid-knob designed as a peach complementing the theme. Steam rising through leaf patterns during brewing creates dynamic vitality.
Collectors value three key aspects: clay purity (original zisha surpasses common clay), craftsmanship (handmade superiority over molds), and artist pedigree (national masters' works appreciate). This Yixing zisha teapot exemplifies all three qualities.
When authenticating, genuine zisha shows natural tones without artificial brightness. Flashlight reveals mineral sparkles in the clay. High-quality pieces produce metallic ringing when tapped, while interior walls preserve hand-built seam marks.
As tea culture spreads globally, this traditional Chinese teapot gains international attention. Each use connects modern tea drinkers with centuries of ceramic wisdom, its warm surface eternally bearing the potter's dedication and warmth.
